What do you think of Curley and the way he is presented in the young? The smart Of Mice and Men was written by John Steinbeck in 1936 and accordingly published in 1937. In section 3 Steinbeck uses a simile to patois on Curleys swelled temper and bowelless personality as when he physically attacks Lennie. Steinbeck calls him a terrier.

This shows what Curleys reddish and agressive personality is like and what he is like around people which can be dangerous.
